I have a custom build pc with Windows 7 x64 installed, and I'm experiencing an odd problem with the onboard IEEE 1394 controller. I don't have any firewire devices attached to the PC (it has one mini-connector on front and a regular size on in the back),but the entry for the host controller itself looks REALLY strange in Device Manager. There are 4 entries for 'IEEE 1394 Controller' showing up under an 'Other devices' node, and 28(!) 'Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller' entries showingup under a 'IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers' node. The four 'Other devices' entries all have a status of 'No drivers are installed for this device' and give the location as PCI bus 4, device 28, 29, 30 and 31. Under resources it says 'This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem'The 28 other entries show with one of 3 errors:Device 0 through 9 show code 12 (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use)Device 10 shows code 10 (This device cannot start)Device 11-27 show code 31 (This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device)All of these 28 show the driver as 'Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller'.
1394 (Firewire) Driver I have a PCIe Firewire card installed in my desktop as my recording studio interface unit uses Firewire and USB 2.0 (MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid). My new desktop does not have a USB 2.0 port on the rear I/O panel and the interface unit does not work well with USB 3.0 ports so I'm using the Firewire port and it is working perfectly.

Driver provider = Microsoft, Driver date = 6/21/2006, Driver version = 6.1.7600.16385, Digital Signer = Microsoft Windows. Driver details contain one file, 1394ohci.sys.That's not my biggest problem. The biggest problem is, that due to those 1394-controllers my M-audio audiodevice is not working anymore. This is a PCI audio device, but at the moment that the controllers appeared, my M-audio device disappeared and thus Ican't use it.Is there a solution for this problem?Regards,KeesThis is driving me crazy since everything else on my Win7 installation is working so well. Any clues as what could be wrong and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, and I will happily supply any additional troubleshooting information. Hi Kees Koeman,First, I would suggest you to try making sure you have the most up-to-date driver installed for your FireWire 1394 device:1. Click the Start button and right clickComputer2.
Click Manage3. Click Device Manager4. Expand IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers5.
Right click your FireWire host controller6. Click Update Driver Software7. Click Search automatically for updated driver software8. Wait to see if a more current driver is found9. If one is found, click Close and test out to see if your speed has increasedIf you already had the most current driver/the speed did not increase:1. Click the Start button and right clickComputer1.
Click Manage2. Click Device Manager3.
Expand IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers4. Right click your FireWire host controller5. Click Update Driver Software6. Click Browse my computer for driver software7.
Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer8. Click 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)9. Click NextYou may also also contact the Texas Instruments.Hope this helps! Thanks and Regards,Imran M – Microsoft SupportVisit ourForum and let us know what you think.
